BREAKING - Court discharges GJM chief Bimal Gurung in Madan Tamang murder case

In what can be termed as a big relief to the GJM Chief Bimal Gurung, the special CBI court has discharged Bimal Gurung from the Madan Tamang murder case.

CBI court judge at the City Sessions Court in Kolkata, Kundan Kumar Kumai, today took up a discharge plea by the 48 accused for hearing.

However, charges framed against 47 other accused include Gurung's wife, Asha Gurung and other senior leaders like Roshan Giri and Binoy Tamang.

Sources who are following the developments closely stated that CBI might go for a revision against the order.

After hearing for the defence and prosecution lawyers, the judge observed that there was not sufficient evidence against Gurung and he could not be simply implicated for being the head of a political party that was rival to assassinated All India Gorkha League chief Madan Tamang.

Madan Tamang was hacked to death in broad day in Darjeeling town in 2010.

We could not reach to GJM leaders or leaders from ABGL for comments on this new development.
