A couple died in an apparent suicide pact by jumping off the Kushma-Jyandi suspension bridge over the Modi river in Parbat, Nepal on Saturday, police said.
The couple were identified as Akin Gurung, 26, of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-11, and Muna Rana, 25, of Dharan Sub-metropolis-14. Their bodies were recovered on Sunday and sent to the District Hospital.
Muna Rana alias Mona was a ex student of Rockvale Academy in Kalimpong.
Police Inspector Madhukar Jung Bista said the couple had set out from their homes to visit Mustang a few days ago and arrived in Parbat.
They were on the way to Kushma to stay overnight, but ended up jumping off the bridge, he added.
Locals had recovered the couple’s luggage from the bridge and handed over to police.
Sources say family trouble is doubted for such a sad incident. Hope parents handle love affairs of their kids little affectionately to stop such instances.
